WallGuard Smoke & Flame Retardant
Thermoguard WallGuard Smoke & Flame Retardant is a specialist decorative topcoat designed to complete the Thermoguard Wallcoat fire protection system for interior walls and ceilings.
Developed for both modern and older painted surfaces, the coating combines decorative finishing with advanced smoke and flame retardant technology to help improve wall and ceiling fire performance in communal and high-occupancy environments.
WallGuard is particularly effective for upgrading older buildings containing multiple historic paint layers where removing previous coatings would be disruptive, expensive or impractical.

Compatible Basecoats
- Thermoguard Wallcoat Insulating Basecoat for upgrading painted and multi-layer painted surfaces.
- Thermoguard Wallcoat 30/60 Minute Basecoat for certified 30 or 60 minute wall and ceiling systems.
- The complete Thermoguard system is required for tested certification.
Finish & Colour Options
- Available in Acrylic Matt and Acrylic Eggshell finishes.
- Over 4,000 RAL, BS and NCS colours available.
- Strong or dark colours may require additional coats for opacity.
- Clear versions may be available for specialist applications following technical approval.
- Metallic and fluorescent shades are not available.
Application Information
- Apply one full coat at the specified coverage rate.
- Suitable for brush, roller or spray application.
- Touch dry in approximately 1 hour under normal conditions.
- Normally overcoatable after approximately 4 hours.
- Do not overspread the coating, as this compromises certification performance.
Surface Preparation
- Basecoat systems must be fully dry and correctly applied before overcoating.
- Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease and contamination.
- Loose or unstable coatings should be removed before application.
- Hard glossy surfaces may require abrasion to improve adhesion.
- Application should only take place within recommended temperature and humidity ranges.
