Thermoguard Flame Retardant Topcoat
What it does
A tough, oil based decorative paint that helps slow flame spread. It is the finishing coat that completes Thermoguard fire upgrade systems. Choose from 4,000+ colours.
Where to use it
Use as the decorative topcoat over the relevant Thermoguard basecoat or system on walls and ceilings in corridors, stairwells, lobbies and other shared spaces.

Finish with this Decorative Flame Retardant Paint in your chosen colour.
Proof, in plain words
BS 476 Part 7 Class 1 limits surface spread of flame.
BS 476 Part 6 controls overall fire propagation.
Together these support Class 0 designation under UK Building Regulations when used as part of the tested system and applied as specified.

Thermoguard Timbercoat
Part of a Fire Protection Upgrade System for bare & suitable multi-layer painted wood and wood derivatives. Part 1 of a system achieve 30 or 60 minute Fire Resistance for compartmentation. The finished system forms a smooth aesthetically pleasing, durable finish resistant to repeated cleaning to internal and external wood.

How it Works
When exposed to fire:-
- Thermoguard Timbercoat expands to create a barrier, insulating wood from heat and oxygen to prevent wood burning & fire penetration.

- Timbercoat is available in White as standard but can also be tinted to BS 4800, BS 381C, RAL and NCS undercoat shades
- Timbercoat is sold in 5kg and 20kg cans

Please note: Timber must be clean and thoroughly dry prior to application (maximum 18% moisture content). Any gaps should be sealed with Thermoguard Intumescent Mastic. Fire should be prevented from accessing unprotected wood surfaces and for external applications it is recommended wood has been sealed on the reverse face to stop water ingress.
NOT suitable for the topside of floor surfaces that will be trafficked/walked on.

Woven fabric roller sleeves and synthetic bristle brushes
Spray;
Pressure Pot & Gun conventional unit with small compressor: Ensure all traces of solvent flushed out. Thin 5 > 10% with water to spray viscosity. Adjust fluid flow & air flow as normal for acrylic emulsion paint OR Airless Graco 1500, 3500 or equivalent. 3/8” line, 30 mesh filter on machine, no filter in gun. 521 or 523, broad areas 621 or 623 tip. Ensure coverage is applied as per technical specification.

Preparation & Application Conditions
Preparation
All surfaces must be clean and dry.
Remove all possible surface contaminates such as grease, smoke residues, silicates etc.
Seal water-stain risks with stain blocking sealer suitable to overcoat with water-based acrylic paints.
Abrade hard or smooth surfaces with wetted 120 grit wet-or dry abrasive or dust extracting abrader. Rinse off slurry while still damp. When dry, remove any loose or suspect material back to firm edge.
Fill and repair any damage to the substrate using a good quality remedial filler
Application Conditions
- Apply to dry wood in dry conditions.
- Max. timber moisture content 18%.
- Max. relative humidity 75%.
- Min. temp 8°C (max. 30°C) and 3°C above dewpoint.
- Protect from rain until 1st coat of Thermoguard Smoke & Flame Retardant Dualcoat is dry.
- Touch Dry: 1 hour / Overcoat: 4 hours
- Ensure fully hard dry before next coat, only apply to dry timber in good drying conditions.
VOC & Composition
Low Voc. Limit for this product (cat A/i) is 140 g/l. This product contains just 16 g/lv
Catalytic powder, expansion agent, char former, char hardeners & fibres Binder: Fire protection adhesive grade rapid reaction acrylic resin. Water based
Clean Up and Health & Safety
Return as much unused material to its original container as possible. Wash brushes rollers and guns with clean waters immediately following use.

Do not store this product in cold temperatures below 5°C or above 30°C.
